Lent Resources

Throughout this year we are focused on the theme “I have called you friends” (John 15:15). We encourage congregations throughout this Lenten season to embrace spiritual practices aimed at building our spiritual friendship - with one another and with Christ.

We are sharing two spiritual practices, Dwelling in the Word and Sharing Our Stories, with some additional information on how you might use these practices throughout the Lenten season. We hope to encourage people throughout our congregations to have meaningful conversations together around spirituality and faith so that we may grow in our relationship with one another and our relationship with Christ.

How to Use this Resource: In the document below, you will find a detailed outline and instructions for two spiritual practices that help us build our spiritual friendship - Dwelling in the Word and Sharing Our Stories.

  • For each spiritual practice, we have offered a variety of options for reading and/or reflection questions you may select from.

  • We included sample prayers and schedules you might use as guides to assemble a schedule for your congregation during Lent. You can select what patterns and practices work best for you.

  • While we assumed most congregations might use these practices during Sunday formation time or a Wednesday evening series, they can easily be adapted for other uses.

  • These spiritual practices work best for adults, youth, or intergenerational gatherings.

If you have any questions regarding the spiritual practices or laying out a schedule for your congregation please contact Canon Steve (CanonSteve@epiok.org) or Kate Bond (KBond@epiok.org) at the Diocesan Oce.
